It'll prevent some spins, namely throttle induced oversteer, if you have it on the most restrictive setting, depending on how yours is programmed. But you could easily have a hydroplane-induced spin in many situations where it could be too late for the traction control to save you. But yes, it is a very nice feature to have in the wet, should you drive your Z regularly in the wet. I choose not to, and thus it is really overkill for me, though I tried it out and thought it was neato.
