So, I've been doing research for a month or so now cause I'm buying my first car. I've decided on either a 95 firebird or a 90/ 91 300zx. Now, I do know how an engine works, how the turbo works, etc, but I have never worked on a car except to replace tires and brakes. So, what I want to know is, if I decide on the 300zx, what kind of mods should I look into?
Its going to be my daily driver (all of 1 mile to school and back / couple miles to work and friend's homes) so I dont need a ridiculous amount of hp (in excess of 400), but I want it to be a fun, fast drive. I have a vague idea of what I want to do with it once I get it (the ones Im looking at have roughly 120k miles).
1. Acid dip engine and hone/ rebore shafts for pistons
2. New exhaust and intake (CAI)
3. Headers and intake manifold
4. New valves and camshaft
5. New clutch and short shifterI have never worked with a turbo before, so I really have no idea what to do to it- any ideas? Also, I really dont know what to with the mods I listed (i.e. what type, etc). Basically, what should I do to the car? Any help is greatly appreciated!
By the end of summer I should have about 12grand to work with, so take that into consideration with mods etc.
