Message I also didn't think my Z06 (which I haven't driven on a track yet, just finished the break-in miles) would be competitve in modified since it can't be entered in the street tire class.....

I know we could have taken first without too much additional effort if I was given 1 clean lap on Sunday, but after all the bad luck thrown my way WE still did ok (my crew was awesome). We were not where we should have been (the whole weekend I was saying I could do a low 2:0X lap, just never had the open space during the practice day (thats why you guys kept seeing slow 2:10-12s in traffic - those street class drivers during practice are really dangerous)).

The Falken RT-615s are nothing compared to a toyo RA-1, Nitto NT01 or V700. Those r-comps are so much stickier and way more consistant (the Nitto is an updated ra-1 with a better tread block design. The new ra-1 replacement should be on par with nt01). Because of the tires going off so fast I never really got to focus on practicing the track which made it hard since I don't have any real experience there.....

As you know, my equipment was already marginal in braking and power and worlds behind in the aero department (even against all these crazy street tire guys), I felt that in modified (since I'd go up against pro-drivers who know what they are doing and would give me a good run) have so much more equipment (500-1000 lbs less weight, 100-200hp more power, More brake, wider tires, Fully setup and tuned aero, and they actually know how to properly drive buttonwillow, lol!) would make it difficult for me to place at this time attack. If I had the sticky tires and everything else unchanged, I think by the end of the weekend I could have been within seconds (2-3s, so 1:56-7 territory) of Ryan's pace without any other modifications to my Z.

You should enter, but I don't think the 350 will be too competitive unless you do more to it. Those VRT and other tuner cars had all this aero, suspension and power and they still didn't place in street tire.....

For camber we ended up (not very precisely which was another issue which I need to go have fixed soon) like -3ish deg in the front and -2 in the rear. The pressures were around 37-38 hot (I'd overheat the tires too fast at lower pressures, even though they did feel much better closer to 32 on the sweepers). In the afternoon my front left tire kept losing air, I think I might have put a light bend in that wheel when going off (during the oil slick) which didn't helping me during my timed sessions...

Cheers,

Salah
