Subject	Water spots on hood WON'T COME OFF!! Help!

Message	Tried, after so many different stuff, rubbing compound to get the stubborn stains out. Got rid of the spot thankfully but also some of the finish. Not incredibly obvious but you can see the scratch marks. So I broke out the Meguire's but it didn't help. Now its just a shiny spot with scratch marks it that beads up water. ;-( What else can I use that won't be so abraisve? --I'd never want a car from a company that manufactures lawnmowers and generators!
