| My NA has a Specialty Z catback exhaust system with a resonated H-pipe. The exhaust looks good and has great sound at low RPM. But under hard acceleration (no smart remarks about NA allowed), or at highway speeds, it is too loud for me. I have stock cats, and am thinking about replacing them with resonated test pipes, to knock sound down to reasonable levels. I have seen some answers to this issue from using search, but the answers were not very clear. Since sound is such a subjective thing, I am struggling to figure out what to do short of replacing the whole exhaust, or chopping it up to use bigger mufflers. So here are my questions that I need your help on: 1. Does replacement of cats with resonated test pipes on a NA, knock down the sound level significantly? (Decibel sound reduction readings would be awesome). 2. Are there any other options? 3. Would anyone with experience in this area tell me their results?
