| I started this project so I could find a way to make the internal VTC mechanism live with higher than stock pressure valve springs, I decided to make them adjustable along the way. I'll cover the mods to fix the VTC in a future episode; for now, it's all about what 50 hours of CAD drawing, tool and fixture making and manual machining looks like so far. Intake and Exhaust both converted to be adjustable (I had to do the exhaust too if the intakes were going to be ajustable. Currently they are only ±5° adjustable while the intakes are ±7°)
 Intake outer with adjustment slots
outer, inner hub and aluminum retainer plate that makes it all possible
back view of hub with retainer bolted on, attaches with twelve SS 8-32 allen bolts and is indexed off the OD on the back of the hub.
Note the VTC helix is visible inside front view of hub
back view assembled, ID of outer registers on the OD of the aluminum retainer plate
front view shown with cam at max advance (7°). Splitting the outer from the inner hub was not fun. All I need to do now is paint the sprocket parts and anodize the retainer then assemble the VTC mechanism.
close up of ARP 1/4" -20 SS bolts, like little jewels...
Not intake related, these are M7 x 1.0 exhaust cam bolts that I made on the lathe from ARP 3/8" NC bolts so they would match the adjuster bolt heads. What an odd size, nobody sells M7 even in low grades.
