I've tested the fan clutch several times at operating temp. It doesn't turn the full rev, but did make about half a turn. Which would explain why it would only overheat in the summer and not winter. It would cool enough when outside temps were below 80*, but anything above that it would run hot. True, I don't actually have actual operating numbers yet, but its already proven to run cooler than it was with the old fan clutch. With the hood open, I noticed it blowing "harder." Also, the noise difference put the final touch on the Fan Clutch being the culprit. I had checked everything else as well, but everything else checked out well. It doesn't bother me that I spent the $114 instead of the $212 at Coz, because I wasn't 100% sure this was the problem. I had done the 120K 20k miles ago and it was an issue before and afterwards, so it wasn't the waterpump like I originally suspected 2 summers ago. Replaced fluid, same story. Checked hoses, thermostat, everything checked out. I even put the thermostat in boiling water to see if it would open before I put it in the car. Should something happen to this unit, I know the symptoms and I'll spend the extra dough and buy it from Coz.
