| I used part of the heat core pipe off of an old NA motor. Cut off the straight part then sliced it down the middle and opened it up a bit. It's amazing what you can find laying around in the garage, provided your next of kin is Macgyver. Yes heads absolutely have to be removed on the vg. There just no way that I could easily come up with to change the valve springs without removal. I did have one idea but it would have taken too much time. Bascially you'd have to make a jig that bolts where the valve covers go that will allow a standard spring compressor something to grab on to, then use the "suitable tool" to compress and go on your merry way. Total pain in the ass.
