I talked with a guy that was stationed in Japan close to 10 years ago. When we was there he picked up a Z32. During that time he had to replace the engine twice....he like to do that whole going sideways thing bouncing off rev limiter. Anyway, after the second engine, the shop he was taking it to suggested that they swap an SR20DET into it. He said yes and was very impressed with it. Granted we loose a bit of torque dropping a whole 1L of displacement but seeing as the SR20DET internals have been proven to around 450hp, it's not a horrible idea. The SR20DET is lighter, it can produce around 400hp and 300 ftlbs of torque, and it's a bit easier to work on. Granted it lacks the torque we all love but still, if the fabrication can be done, then it makes sense. As for the RB26DETT, ehh. It's probably the best motor Nissan has ever produced. The VG30DETT a close tie for second with the SR20DETT. However, from what I understand it's hard to fit in our bay. That and alot of it's hype as a 'monster' comes from the R34 Skyline, not the motor itself. Personally, I'd prefer an inline 6 in any car over a V6. But I don't think we'd benefit from the RB26DETT in the Z32. I can see the tradeoffs with an SR20DET but not with the RB.
