I just used that phrasing to push a rhetorical point and that point is that it is just a dumb thing to do; to park in ANY parking space in an apartment parking lot. You should always figure that every single space in an apartment development's parking lot belongs to someone unless the spot is clearly marked "VISITOR". Let me add here, and I also will add this up the line where Zster posted again on this issue, that the landlord was a total JERK for touching Zster's Z. What the landlord did was totally unacceptable, but people should understand that "property rights" come in a lot of different forms and people who get their property rights screwed with can get really irrational. The point remains that Zster screwed up and brought this on himself. I think that he should have called the police and waited for them to sort it out. The cop might have given Zster a ticket for parking on private property without authorization but he would have also written up the landlord for his completely unacceptabe behavior and then Zster would have some contemporaneous authorative documentation for his claim against the landlord's insurance carrier and/or a small claims action. I hope this clears things up for you. I meant to use the word "idiot" in the kindest way possible Mark
