Actually, the helmets themselves will not strech but the padding inside will eventually mold to your facial features. However, if its THAT tight from the factory then I would probably exchange it for a bigger size. I had to get the biggest size Simpson makes without having to order a custom one (size 8) and it fits perfectly. I should also mention that different helmets will fit differently even though the size is the same. Before I ordered the Bandit I have I tried the Voyager size 8 and it seemed a lot tighter than my Bandit. I'd suggest going to a shop that sells helmets and test fit a few before ordering. Good luck!
