Message (this is going back 20 years), I could tell from the debris that was left in my driveway that they first went in and stole the head unit and wasted little effort ripping the center area of the dash apart to get it out as quickly as possible - time is their enemy and they had to do a "smash and grab" and get the stuff as quickly as possible.

However, somewhere along the way of extracting the head unit they must have decided to take the entire car. I believe they towed it to an area where they could start it without me hearing it (the car had headers, and a full 2.5" exhaust - it was anything but quiet).

Anyway, the point I was getting at is: 1) they don't care what damage they do since it's not their car, and 2) it's done so they can get in and out as quickly as possible.

Best of luck with repairing the damage.
