I'm currently shopping for parts to rebuild my lower end, and in my quest, I decided to go with Pauter rods, among other things. I'm currently running the Crower 4340 billet rods in my damaged block now, but I was interested in upgrading them to the Pauter rods. Now here's the kicker, I emailed Pauter directly to get a little feedback and recommendations, and this is what they had to say: "Mr Wynn, The rods for your 300ZX twin turbo are part #NIS-220-550-1440F and will handle a correctly tuned 200+hp per rod. I will add that the Crower rods you currently have are also rated at or near our hp numbers and while I appreciate the vote of confidence, I feel a change is not necessary. Thanks, (representative's name withheld)" Although I appreciate his honesty, what is it that makes their rods any better than the Crower's if that's the case? My current block has less than 4000 actual miles since my last build, so should I keep what I have or still upgrade, despite Pauter's recommendation?
