Message We've put SMIC's on a lot of different cars throughout the past few years, including quite a few dyno comparisons on cars at a range of different power levels. The one thing that always seems to stick out is the fact that the stock SMICs are a a restriction (bottleneck). When you replace them you get more air flow through the intake tract. Not really much different than the concept of changing cats out for test-pipes. Of course the higher cfm you have moving through the intake tract the more of a difference it makes replacing the stock units. Even on a stage 3 TT at around 15 psi they do seem to be causing substantial restriction.
