Message	Roger was the guy I talked to, he confirmed that buying the whole thing really was cheaper than just the lens. He added that there is a good chance of the lense by itself not surviving shipping, which I think is why they want you to buy the whole thing. Saves them money in the long run because they don't have to replace parts. I'd be much obliged if you wouldn't mind sending me one!
