| All this talk about a new aftermarket bumper is fun. However, I think that many designs make the rear end too bulbous, like the supra. The rear of the stock 300zx is lean and wide in a much closer "golden rectangle" ratio than the supra. Making the rear bumper taller changes the dimensions and makes it appear to be less wide. The taillights also help widen the top and create the illusion of wide shoulders. I think that the z1 vert's rear, although taller, has the diffuser and widebody rear quarter to keep the wide shouldered look. If you look at the supra, it's very round and tall and forms a more abrupt wedge. I think the round shapes of the hatch/wing/tailights on top of the wide horizontal license plate area exaggerate the height of the bumper....and that huge wing.
Here is my idea of a rear diffuser moulded into ttwin's rear bumper. I raised the diffuser area slightly to bring more attention out and to the lowered section behind the tail and I think it enhances the wide shouldered look that the Z naturally has. Just my 2cents!
