Message sounds like one or more injectors may be leaking and saturating the combustion chamber with fuel (basically a temporarily very rich condition).

How do your spark plugs look? excessive carbon deposits? Wet? Check the gap on 'em as long as they are out.

If the smoke were blue in nature, it would most likely be your valve guides letting oil seap past when the engine is off.

I doubt your cats are bad, they don't operate when cold anyway. The POP and rear main are unrelated to your problem.

A good place to start would be to run some redline injector cleaner, maybe deposits aren't letting your injectors close all the way.
