out of pocket to test you, which occurs a lot in this type of situation. Then he may possibly contact your insurance. I doubt he will contact his insurance for a minor occurrence such as a door dent, as he is likelyshort on coverage, if he has any, or his deductible would be high. Contact the police to get a copy of the police report and make sure the report has a reference that the location of the dent on his door did not match the edge of your door when it opened. If its not in the report you can politely ask the police to add that to the comments on the report since, as you said, they made that observation in front of you. Usuaully, they oblige. A police report is hearsay, but can be useful here for minor situations w/ no witnesses to show that more likely than not the dent was not caused by you. In the unlikely event your insurance contacts you on this, or if he tries to take you to small claims, then you can use the report with some exceptions depending on the magistrate. That really should be it. It should not affect your premium. If small claims is an issue, it would be your word against his w/ a hearsay police report to tip the balance in your favor. Don't lose sleep over it. Chances are he cooled down when he awoke the next morning.
