Message just thought I'd throw it out there, but ethanol does oxidize on metal surfaces through a 12 electron process to produce CO2 and water. Unfortunately, much is still not known about ethanol oxidation on surfaces, and a number of groups are working on research to make it possible to use ethanol in fuel cells.
