Message As I'm sure a few of you have seen, I came out with my own oil cooler kit. So far, the e-mail interests for my kits has been great and I am very pleased. I really like the cooler that I am using in the kit as well. One thing that I didn't like abou tthe Stillen kit, is that their was too much of a pressure drop when I went from stock to it. Now with this other oil cooler which is 19 rows as well, the car is a solid 60psi at 3k rpms and is a hair under 25psi at idle, which is better than it was with the stillen unit.

Anyways, I was originally making my brackets to put the oil cooler in basically the same location as the Stillen unit, but about 1/2-1" futher back to allow more room for those of us running single and dual pop intakes. I finally got around to making a bracket for it for my car and got everything bolted up and while it did look good and function great (just took it for a 30 minute spin with my temprary Greddy oil pressure gauge hooked up) I think I am going to go a little futher with these brackets.

Basically, if you look underneath the oil cooler and radiator, there is quite a bit of space that air (which comes in through the fasica) is just getting waisted by going through, instead of the radiator and oil cooler. Sure, if you have a fasica like min ethat extends all the way back, or if you use the under splash sheilds, most of the air will make it where it needs to be, but still not all. To fix this problem on my car, I am going to make my oil cooler brackets extend all the way out to the bottom of the fasica opening to solve this and help bring atleast a little bit more air in through the radiator and oil cooler area. On my car which has a "similar to jspec" fascia, I am also going to bring the sides up around the sides of the fascia opening, since that is also an area of wasted air. I really think this will help guide all the air to the radiator and oil cooler and also make the opening of the fascia look much more attrative.

While I am planning on doing this to my own car, would other potential buyers of my oil kit like this as well with their kits or no? If so, then I will make two versions, one with the bracket extending all the way to the mouth and coming up on the sides for the jspec fasia owners out there, and one which just extends out to the opening on the bottom, but does not come up on the sides for all the other fascia owners out there.

Another good thing about this style bracket is that while it obviously has performance benefits, it also will make the inside oepning of your fascia look a million times better(if that matters to you) cause when you look through the opening on the fascia, you will only see flat black, then a nice shiny oil cooler and whatever intake you have..everything else which doesn't need air flowing onto it will be nice and covered up..not toally sealed up, to where they get no flow at all, but you will not be able to see them and they will just not have a full 60mph wind gust going onto them..which they don' tneed anyways.

Anyways, if anyone would like me to make my brackets like that, then let me know and if there is enough interest I will do so. Cost won't go up any i figure, cause I am making the brackets all myself, and it'll take up like twice as much sheet metal per bracket, but that isn't going to break the bank any.

Comments, good or bad are welcome, I would like to hear what others think honestly before I go trash the brackets that I just got done making already to make these new ones.

Thanks,
Mike
