Here's my take on the situation. This sort of thing happens on my block occasionally, as well. What I know for sure about people parking in other's parking spots is that whenever it happens, the person who has the "right" to use the parking spot, is really, really pissed. It doesn't matter if the person who "owns" the parking spot is an 18 year old guy or a 66 year old widow; they are pissed. And pissed beyond rational bounds. And you know what? I've had somebody park in my spot and I've been really pissed, too. One of the things that especially distinguishes Americans is our devotion and even worship of private property rights. We fight and die in war to protect our property rights. When somebody tramples on my property rights my heart starts to pound my mouth goes dry and I want to KILL. Do you know that feeling? I'll bet you do. The founders of our country were originally going to use the phrase "life liberty and property rights" instead of "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness". For, in many ways, the persuit of happiness IS the pursuit of property because property is wealth and wealth provides security and in turn happiness. Free people OWN things. It's one of the things that defines our freedom. Didn't you persue the acquisition of your beautiful Z? Aren't you happier with it than without it. Didn't it make you really angry and sad when your rights to your Z were impinged upon? Yes, of course it did! You reacted strongly to somebody screwing with your property rights. I understand that. Everybody does. Now here's the hard part. And I really hate to have to tell you this. You were an idiot! YOU are the guy who screwed with somebody else's property rights so YOU are the person who is completely responsible for what happened. The scratches on your wheels? YOU made that happen. YOU caused the rightful owner of the parking spot to do what he did. Without YOU abusing and SERIOUSLY disrespecting the property rights of another, the landlord, absolutly NOTHING would have happened to your Z. Now that what happened to you happened, you are no longer an IDIOT when it comes to privated property rights. Right? Will you ever abuse somebody else's property rights? I don't think so. This experience should have cured you of your stupidity when it comes to property rights. You should send that landlord a "Thank You" card along with a bottle of good booze for teaching you such an important life lesson. (well maybe you could skip the bottle of booze...) Now you are a better person because you learned first hand how YOU feel about property rights and you learned first hand how somebody ELSE feels about property rights. All's well that ends well! Don't you feel all warm and tingly now that you have become a better person? Lastly, forget about revenge or any of that other kid stuff. The only person to be mad at is yourself. Remember, YOU were the cause of what happened to you. Now forgive yourself and don't F**k with anybody's property again and you should be alright. Any thoughts on this now that you've had some time to reflect back?
