| Since the post below is locked, I thought I'd put together a Do-it-yourself writeup on how to bypass the purchase of a remote starter on a 5-speed or any other car, avoiding all potential dangers, liabilities and expense associated with aforementioned install. Things you will need: Alarm clock Coffee and coffee maker Layers of clothing The key to your car Step 1. Set alarm clock to wake you up 5 minutes earlier than normal.
**This is unquestionably the hardest part of the writeup. (Difficulty: 10 out of 10)** Step 2. Drag self to kitchen and start coffee brewing (you will need this later on in the writeup).

Step 3. Put on many layers of clothing, ~then~ put on a coat (do not attempt to do this out of sequence!). I recommend a stack about this size for colder temperatures (reduce stack size by 10% for every 10* warmer than temperatures that are frostbite inducing).
Step 4. Put on shoes. I recommend these:
 Or perhaps these:
 But never these:

Step 5. Walk out to car, open car door, insert key in ignition (the key goes pointy-end first) and turn clockwise to crank it (again, do not attempt to do this out of sequence!). The key goes where the red circle is in the picture. The inside of your car should look like this:
*NOTE:* If the inside of your car does not look like this, you are either on the wrong forum or you are in your neighbor's car. Leave either one quietly. Step 6. Turn on defroster, located here:
Step 7. Turn on heater. Press the green circled button frantically, use the red circled buttons as desired.
Step 8. Close car door and return to house, enjoy morning coffee. Your done!
Thanks,
