Message as they have a layer of paint on the lense that prevents much light from coming through. To resolve the Ford problem, most owners simply scratch the paint off the back of the gauge faces leaving the clear plastic lense, then repaint the backside of the gauge face using transparent glass paint, allowing it to be backlit.

Not sure if the Z is the same, I'd have to take the cluster face off to check the lighting chambers and the boost and oil pressure gauge faces, as well as figure out some way seal off the sides of the gauges so that light could only come through the writing.

But frankly, both of the gauges are pretty inaccurate and useless, as most people purchase more accurate aftermarket gauges, so IMO, "Can it be done?" is superceded by "Is it even worth the effort?"
