Until the coolant temperature comes up to near operating temps the ECU is dumping fuel...running rich. I was under the impression for better gas mileage you should let it idle up to operating temps then drive, otherwise you're just dumping more fuel faster.

I see the logic that the car will warm up faster when driven but during that time you're still running rich. Probably doesn't make a big difference.
