Message	long story short; work makes heat. for better gas mileage, drive the car. for quicker nominal temp, drive the car. for wear and tear, drive the car. the quicker you get it to temperature, the faster it gets to nominal temps and out of cold start mode. the quicker you get it to temperature, the less wear and tear on the engine in the long run.
