I just finished my dream project, (see profile) and had called the Insurance company to add comp and collision to the policy on that car. The NEXT week I hit black ice and crunched the front and rear ends. The only good thing about it was: I had asked for Stated Value and told them I'd get the receipts to them "sometime soon". But once I wrecked, and was forced to count up my receipts, was short by $10K or so on the "stated value". And that did not include ANY labor estimates, since my shop did it ourselves. Now, the shop is closed, I need to add labor to the mix as well. The car will be covered (just barely) and there's no structural damage, but it sucks nonetheless. Sorry about your loss.
_MWS Disclaimer: Some people have confused myself, Michael Smith of MWS Motorsports with Mike Smith of MS Performance / Jim Wolf Technologies, featured in Mike Kojima's Sport Compact Car magazine Project Z articles. While the comparison is flattering, it is important to make the distinction. Please help spread the word by always try to refer to each "Mike Smith" by their respective companies. |
