| Message | it is literally the last part you remove during disassembly.  You have to start at the back of the tranny, removing the shift forks/rods, reverse gear, 5th gear, countershaft back-half, then press both shafts out of teh center bearing plate, and then you can finally remove the input shaft.... and we're not talking about parts designed for a 4-cylinder either - the shafts are thick and press-fits are in the half-ton force realm... I did it all once with fabricated tools and unless I spent the ~$1K for the proper tools (custom pullers, etc), I dont see myself ever doing it again.
