So, we put the car back together last week with stock cats so I could get inspected. This morning it passed inspection fine. With the cats in the turbos would only boost about 1.15bar (about 17psi) max even tho I had my AVC-R set to 1.4bar and duty cycle maxed out at 90%. I took the cats off today and put test pipes back on. Went out for a spin and it is now boosting between 1.25 & 1.32 bar but is not consistent. This is still with the AVC-R maxed out at 90% duty cycle. Anybody have any ideas? This is only about 20.5psi and I would think that these turbos should handle that and more. They are also EXTREMELY laggy. Total spool up isn't until around 4600-4800. On my PREVIOUS set I was told the precats and non ported manifolds were contributing to the lagginess. Well, I now have FULL downpipes and EXTRUDE HONED manifolds so that sure isn't it. The MOST concerning thing tho, is that now that the test pipes are back in I noticed when boosting and especially after I let off, big clouds of blue smoke. This historically means to me that the turbos are bad. They have 250 miles on them. Does anyone have any comments on this? Is there any way that smoking like this could be considered normal? If these have gone bad this will be set number 2 that failed in less than 1,000 miles. I would not be a very happy camper. I'm also disappointed with the lagginess and lack of hitting really high boost. I would think with a 90% duty cycle they should damn near go off the charts.
