Message The deal in california is that the people running the show there are morons as well. Its a state problem not a federal problem. Why should my taxes go to pay for somebody's electricity in california because their public officials aren't smart enough to plan ahead? Also gas companies exist for one reason, to make loads of money. How about this, did you think about that time not too long ago when everything was so cheap and so many of the domestic oil and gas companies were losing a lot of money. Some are only now breaking even from the losses; I know this from my own interests in the oil industry. Limited quantity of oil + limited refining capabilities + inflation + increased demand from more driving and more less efficient vehicles (suv's anyone) = higher prices. I don't even look at what the gas price is, I really dont give a sh*t. I guess its like 30 bucks to fill up the Z. if you fill up once a week thats 120 a month. Hell how much do you think the avg american spends on beer and cigarettes? Add it up. I think gas at $2 a gallon is a bargain and many people will probably start to see that pretty soon. Also the energy crisis, it can't be solved. It is just delaying the inevitable. I think that demand will increase far beyond ability to produce before the natural reserves even run out until prices become unrealistic. It is a product of our overdependance on petroleum based energy. There are alternatives but realistically they won't be developed until our balls are to the wall. Did you know that the new high tech super engineered batteries used in electric cars don't work much better than edison's original automobile batteries. What if the research that has gone into petrol engines had been instead directed at electric cars? I'm not sure what my point is but theres always a dozen different viewpoints for any situation, thought I'd put forth some too.
