Seeing as this is your first (assuming) DSLR camera, do you own any SLR lenses now? How much is your budget to spend on lenses? (trust me you're never satisfied with the kit lens) I can suggest you stick to Nikon or Canon if you go the SLR route. They have the most expandability and are constantly upgrading their lineup. Probably the most product support is found through them. Beyond that its all dependent on how much you feel like spending. I know you're spending plenty on that build-up. So I'm not sure of what your budget is for the camera.
