octane boosters that come in a bottle advertise their points based on the addition to 5 gallons of gasoline whether they say that on the bottle or not, unless otherwise noted. Some bottles will say "will treat up to 20 Gallons", but they won't improve 20 gallons of gasoline by the increase of octane advertised on the bottles. Say if "NitroTech" octane booster says it will add 5 points to your octane(half an octane), that is based on if it were to be added to only 5 gallons of gasoline. But the bottle says "will treat up to 20 Gallons". Technically, yes it does treat the fuel, but it the octane booster is 4 times diluted in gasoline than if it were added to 5 gallons so the improvement in octane will only be .125 increase in octane. It's the word games that these companies play to mislead customers so their product seems more effective than they really are so they can sell the product easier.
