If I'm going to be making a left turn and I understeer, I will go right into oncoming traffic. If I oversteer, I can still make the turn and correct for the oversteer. The only advantage FWD has over RWD in the winter acceleration from a stop. Once rolling, I prefer RWD in the snow. Also, winter tires help even that out anyway because most people with FWD cars don't get snow tires.
