Message It's the set-up. Technically, you could have any type supercharger blow 15psi at idle as long as the pulley sizes allowed the compressor to do so. The BIG block dragsters usually use the roots style blowers, but because of the boost needed at 10,000RPM, the pulley sizes(Large overdrive pulley for the crank, small pulley for the SC) would spin the compressor fast enough at idle that the compressor is spinning fast enough to make 20PSI at idle, but since there is no load on the engine(throttle plate(s) closed), the pressure is released by a BOV.
