So I got my last package from Joe’s tag sale a few weeks ago. See what I mean about being able to be dropped out of an airplane? There was a whole trashbag full of paper removed when I took this pic.
Excellent foam supports/protectors.
Tada!!! One of the best cooling options for the Z32….the precious is now mine!!!
Here is a better shot of the timing cover work I did over the summer. No more PTU mount. They’ve been holding up well.
Here’s the Koyo mounted with the beautiful http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=classified&msg_id=108544 ]">CZP bracket (shamless plug for my classified ad post) :D
So after removing the CZP bracket, I mounted the new MegaZ wings set… First a little prep after test fitting.... Some split vac line to protect the guides on the ends. Also gives a very secure fit.
I also added (probably overkill) some foam weather stripping to help channel air over the radiator.
It is a really beautiful product, excellent finish, great design (I like the hood prop clip position better on this unit than the CZP). Of course I had to hit it with a couple of coats of NXT followed by S100…
The finished product…
Let’s look a little closer, shall we???
Yes, I am uber 1337 :-) I was timing how long it would take me, from jacking the car up to filling the radiator. I got the old one out pretty quick, but didn't remove the intake hose on the driver’s side, the fan or the two coolant hoses, which needed to be removed to get the larger Koyo in. So I do all that, get the Koyo in, place the shroud on, bolt it up. I actually bent the lower hose holder (you know the rubber coated metal thing) and bolted that to the shroud, because the bracket it was on was exactly as deep as the stock. I had to trim the upper radiator hose about 1”, and I had to use machine 10mm bolts on the top holes of the shroud, not sheet metal screws. Everything's in, I check all connections, nice and tight. Good, now I fill it...No coolant. So I run out, get some 50/50 and on the way back it hits me. Draincock. OMG I almost forgot to put that beeyatch in. That would have really sucked. Fill her up, burp it, go for a test drive. No leaks, all good. With all the BS of calling Dave N and IMing a couple of people, and getting coolant, 2.25 hours. If I had to do it again, under a 1:30 for sure. Coolant capacity on a Koyo install is about 1.5 gallons of fluid, for reference. That is removing the front two hoses and the stock radiator. To refill the system (static, before starting), the Koyo and hoses took 1.5 gallons. I only added a cup or so more after running and thermostat opening. So for search purposes, a Koyo install will require no more than 2 gallons of fluid. :-) I haven’t driven it with the MegaZ wingz yet, but I will this weekend. I doubt I’ll be able to see a temperature difference on my stock temp gauge. Perhaps it’s viewable with a Techtom. Thanks to Dave at MegaZ for an awesome product and super fast shipping (paid Wednesday, received Friday). Thanks to Joe(NoVA) for superior packaging and a smooth transaction.
