| This choice is going to be much harder than I thought! To make a long story short - I was going to paint the car black and have some ghost graphics to set it apart. Well, I can't figure out what graphics to have put on. Probably because graphics just don't seem work with the 300ZX. So, I decided to go with a custom black base coat with red pearl and then clear coat for a more distinctive paint rather than subtle graphics. This is a picture of the "let down panel". You can see the four shades from purple to almost black! Each shade has from one to four coats of the pearl. 
Here you can see the amount of red pearl in the “blackest black”. 
This is a different angle where you don’t see the red pearl in the darker sections. 
The other rear quarter is a color the painter thought I would like and the front fender (not in picture because it was on a rack) has a black pearl on it. Times like this I wish I paid more attention in those mandatory art classes I took in school. I would remember that red and black gets purple which I don’t want. We still don’t have it. Next round will be to shoot the red pearl with reductions by half as much with each shade of the red pearl. There is still just a tad too much red sparkle for my taste. We are also going to go with one shade blue pearl for comparison. I wanted to stay away from the blue since it is rather popular but the purple has me running scared. I realize it doesn’t look it in the pictures but the body work is coming out very nice. As long as I pick a color, body and paint will be done in about three weeks. Then I get to put it all back together!
