Message So two people driving the same car can prefer two different pad types, depending on where the average brake temperature falls for them. The more aggressivly you drive, the hotter the average rotor temp.

For most of us, there won't be a real difference, but you can see why professionals simply don't create "objective data". The kind of objective data that yields to collection won't necessarily be relevant to the racer.

My advice, find somebody whos driving style is close to yours and use their preference as a starting point. Buy your next set of pads to address any problems you have with the first set (wears too fast or overheats). And be sure to get a track-only pad; don't waste time with a street/track pad, as everyone else is saying.

I like the Porterfield R-4 for the track. I drive aggressively, entering corners a little too hot fairly often. The R-4 is my first track-only pad, so I can't compare to others.
