| This is just a heads up post for yall. If any of yall have ever started to smell fuel after replacing a fuel pump, then please check and make sure the fuel pump gasket is not pinched. it is a little tricky to get the pump installed without pinching it so it is easy to make this mistake. I did't think that was what was wrong for a long time cause I couldonly smell the fuel when the windows were down, and I figured that I would also smell it with the windows up...well I was wrong. Anyways symptoms were...-fuel smell with windows down.
-Fuel smell get's stronger after boosting.
-Fuel smell is strongest right after topping off the gas tank. -Fuel smell not too bad when cold and fuel smell terrible when hot outside.
-Drive with a case of Advil for guaranteed headache. Anyways, it really really started bothering me though cause everything else was done great on the car but yet it reaked like an old peice of crap car haha. I also wasn't able to drive without the t-tops anymore with the windows down which sucked, and just overall I wasn' t pleased with this one last thing being retarded. Also I was holding off checking that becuase it required removal of my entire trunk with amps, my sub enclosure, and my roll cage which I figured would take forever. Anyways, after checking everything else and even replacing the gas cap I finally called up a buddy of mine and some how removed all that stuff, fixed the immediately noticed pinched fuel pump gasket, and reinstalled everything without a single scratch on anything in less than 4 hours! Considering the first time I installed the box with the cage it took me 7hours just for that..I was pretty happy with the 4 hours for everythng lol. Anyways, now the car doesn' t have the slightest hint of fuel smell weather the windows are down or up and I can happily cruise with the t-tops off again! Needless to say I am very stoked about this and just wanted to give any of yall a heads up if you weren't sure if that might be the problem.
