I'd say the auto is nice to have, but so is the 5 spd. Think of it this way, with the auto, you have a nice smooth ride with no thinking envolved, however you have a theoretically maxium that the stock tranny can hold...and a built auto is big bucks. The manual can pretty much dish whatever you throw at it...with the proper clutch, however the manual is a bit more fun to drive if you're not sitting in traffic all the time.
