when it has color, it clashes with the curves of the car. Had the trim been designed for color with the appropiate surfaces and curves to complement the overall appearance of the car, it may have looked good. Personally, I do not believe the 99 spec inner trim does this either. When the square trim is black or silvered, you cannot "see" the surface for what it is. These are the only clean options at this point.
