Message its the down part that makes it a spike. The plot represents the rate of power increase per unit RPM. An individual spike then means that the rate of the power increase was increasing, then suddenly the rate decreased. What caused that decrease is the key. Additionally, if you consider yourself at the baseline and the plot suddenly jumps up, something caused that rate to increase. The real source is unknown obviously but my contention and Dee's is that its features originate from the testing and are not an artifact of data processing.

If i had an equation for the curve, and took the first derivative it would only offer higher resolution. My piecewise derivative is an approximation of the same trends. Is the core of your arguement that the data set is undersampled? A few data points fall on each peak. If it was one point per peak and trough, I'd agree it was noise or undersampling. With this now in mind, not all the peaks I counted would be properly supported, by the majority would be.

While getting tires mounted for Zcon, I had this doozy of a conversation with the mechanic...

Tireguy: [looking at emblem] Is this a Twin Turbo?
Me: Well, yea.
Tireguy: Awesome! How much boost do you run?
Me: 14-15 ish.
Tireguy: Cool. On both?
