Message ...there are software authoring techniques that can be used to create programs that "never" fail. It's a tenet of computer science that you can never prove that a program has no possible point of failure, but you can prove that the mean time between failure is so long that for all intents and purposes, it's "bug free."

These programming techniques are expensive and arduous, and you hardly ever encounter the resulting programs in desktop computing - but they are commonly used for critical systems like medical systems and satellite nagivation programs.

One would hope they would use such a technique for a system they plan on using to pin crimes on people.
