Message There was a discussion some time ago about the accuracy of the compressor maps shown on the garrett website with respect to the Disco Potato turbo, AKA: GT28RS, GT2860RS, Sport 700.

While looking through a few of the pages on turbobygarrett.com I came across this:

Link to the "GT2860R_707160_5" turbocharger:
Specs:
Compressor: 60mm, 62-trim, 47.2mm inducer
Turbine: 53.8mm, 76-trim
With this compressor map:

And then there is a turbocharger with the designation: "GT2860RS-739548-1"
Link:
Specs:
Compressor: 60mm, 62-trim, 47.2mm inducer
Turbine: 53.8mm, 76-trim
With this compressor map:

If you dont notice what I'm pointing out, look at the specs of the compressor for both of these turbos listed: they are identical. But, the maps suggest different operating characteristics.

I suppose this is more of just a post to point out the inconsistencies in their website information but it is interesting to see that they still display the correct compressor map for the 62-trim compressor wheel, although, the correct map is under the link for a turbocharger without the "RS" designation: the correct map for the 62-trim compressor wheel being the first shown in this post, revealing a peak operating pressure ratio of 3.2:1 (~31.5psi of boost).

The first map shown should be labeled as GT2860RS, 60mm, 62-trim. The lower map is actually the map for the GT2860R (GT28R). Garrett needs to find themselves a new web designer. This kind of misinformation could be very confusing. :-/
