Message It sounds like a "bait-n-switch" tactic.

The first clue is when Barrie approached you when Rob "had to leave". No salesman worth his commission for a sale would ever take off without actually introducing himself first.

The second clue is when Barrie gave the keys to another salesperson. No salesperson would ever give up the keys of a vehicle unless the car was parked in the driveway. And only then will the salesperson give the keys to the guy whose job is to move the cars from spot to spot, but that person always gives the keys back to the salesperson once the vehicle is moved.

The third clue is when the other "buyer" closed the deal FASTER THAN you did.

In conclusion, just be thankful you weren't the "lucky buyer".
