Message	the 6.5's. Sanding out 1/4" all around will definitely eat into the drill holes, my next concern would be that the speaker protection basket isn't wide enough to allow the whole 6.5" woofer to sit flush. I'm still having a hard time believing that this bracket is just like everyone else's out there.
