Message you're a drunk driver, the answer is always yes. The sooner they get a drunk off the road the better. Fortunatley, you were not drinking. So this weighs in your favor and makes the cop look bad, he could have written a warning.

A lawyer would cost more than the ticket. Since you were not drinking, use that to your advantage to discredit the cop for following you into another jurisdiction. By chance was the cop a Deputy Sheriff ? Deputy's have statewide jurisdiction, same as troopers.

Get the cop to admit he saw an animal in the road!

Bring in pictures of you Z for visual reference, a judge may not be familiar with the Z and how low it sits to the ground. Discuss how animals will damage the front spoiler, replacement cost, animals can get hung under the car and damage the transmission, exhuast, etc..... I know the tranny is a stretch, but bent linkage ain't fun to deal with after midnight.

Mention insurance premiums go up for damage that could be avoided and the cost of the deductible to you as well. Mention the cops behavior and attitude too. Hopefully you were cool headed and not bitching too much ?

If a car had been coming, you would have stopped or slowed to wait for on coming traffic so argue all points that are debate-able.

Do you have a good driving record ? If so, mention that in court.

When you go to court, check your attitude at the door, cool calm and ready to win. Don't mention that you are driving a twin turbo, just say its a 300Zx classic car that you are trying to preserve and prevent damage to. If you or the cop say twin turbo, the judge will automatically think.... hot rod. It's just a sports car your honor, lol

States, unless you count the increasing popularity of
the nine-millimeter bullet."
