Message from the engine to the transmission such an important aspect of the driving experience for you guys?

A couple of weeks ago I had one of my cruise meets. The turn out was small, there were 3 of us all together. When we got into the park, I ended-up getting behind a g35sc. so there were 4 of us caravaning through the mountain. We were going at a good 35-40 mph, not ripping up the roads but not using the brakes for the turns either. On a few occasions /i reached my hand over, depressed the thumb button and put my car in second gear, I had already turned off the OD. It was easy the transmission went down a gear immediately and the revs on the motor went up slowing the car a bit and putting the motor into a more responsive area of the power band. Why do I need a clutch for that. I had a thoroughly enjoyable experiance driving my car on a winding mountain road, playing nicely with other drivers doing the same. Would a clutch really have made that experiance much better?

If you don't see my 3 babies, photodump.org is down.
