I think he just brought up his car as a way of saying that he was no stranger to driving fast and, based on his personal experience, I was wrong to think that it was safe or reasonable to be driving 86 in that situation. He was mistaken about the road being bumpy, but I'm just thankful that he slashed my speeding citation down to the minimum possible or thereabouts. Chance favors the informed
