Message have seen personally in real-world experiences. I wish I had quantitative information to provide to support what I am saying, but I know that the principles are correct.

I dont believe that the green line is quite the way it really is. Reason I say this is if my turbos were in surge, they would have failed miserably several thousands of miles ago. I just rolled over 7200 miles today and they have seen a hard life, relatively speaking.

I've seen stock turbos disintegrate radial and thrust bearings within 20 seconds of operation in surge in some of my jet engine projects. I wiped out several of them this way until I clipped the turbines to increase the flowrate capacity of the turbine.

Granted, "surge" has a dynamic nature to it, meaning, there are more or less degrees of "surge".

As for point #2, it all depends on what you want to set the car up for. I like my setup as it offers a significant benefit in bottom end torque, but it is sacrificing a little bit on the top end as compared to the native GT2860RS with the .64 housing. I think the choice for Z owners should be the .64 housing on this turbo though - at least, until I get the stage2 available, and then there are more options. I just think the .86 is not only a poor choice, but it will significantly impact overall performance (area under the curve).
