Message Winter. I'm going to completely dynamat the doors and trunk area to reduce road noise. Maybe the floor too, depends on how motivated I get. I'm planning on using the Nissan brackets in all four corners. I'm also planning on a ChrisZTT stealthbox replica for one 10", or maybe one 12" subwoofer. If I could get a JL Stealthbox new from a dealer I would also consider that option.

Up front I'm going 6.5" components, not sure on the brand yet. I'll be mounting the tweeters down in the stock Bose location, unless I plan on making kick panel enclosures. I may change my mind, I'll play around with the location with some double stick tape first, but the most logical place is the stock location. The tweeters are the most equidistant from each other in this location. Sure, new HU's have time delays etc, but that would also delay the midrange signal going to the 6.5" midwoofer. Everyone can feel free to argue me, but I know I'm right :)

I'll be getting 4x6" coaxials in the back. They're just for rear fill anyway. I'll probably put them in some 4x6" XTC foam baffles and run them from 300Hz to 12kHz. Maybe as low as 10kHz. I want 90% of my sound image to be coming from the front of the car.

I'm not sure where I'll mount the amplifier. I'm thinking possibly behind the drivers seat, since I don't have 10' long legs. I'm pretty certian I'm going with the JL Audio 500/5 amp. I like the idea of a system amplifier for instal simplicity. I'd love to get a pair of old Xtant (one 3 ch, one 2 ch) amps I see on eBay, but I do have some tall passengers from time to time. A remote gain as vorpalZ mentioned is a wonderful feature I'll be looking into. The other brand I'm considering is Soundstream.

I already have a great Alpine HU, but might upgrade that for a HD radio-ready unit. I'll probably install an XM antenna and tuner unit too, but I'm not sure.

So that's what I'm thinking. To answer your original question...ChrisZTT (Sacto) or whatever his SN is makes an amazing enclosure which allows one to be installed in each corner and still fit the t-tops. They sound great (heard them in TTwinZ car). Imaging of sub-bass is not as important as mid and high frequencies. It's just air moving and its undirectional below 80Hz. You can make a false floor in the spare tire well, but you would have to:

Seal it off well
Protect the subwoofer
Direct the air to a location other than the center (because with t-tops stored, the driver would fire right into them)
Find a new way home if you get a flat

Personally, that's the least flattering option. I can't see your pictures at work, so I don't even know what you're commenting on. That's my fifty cents. Feel free to write me if you have any questions.
