Message Volumetric efficiency and HP/L are essentially one in the same - you are basically just looking at efficiency from a different unit of measure.

Perhaps synonymous isn't the ideal word to use? Perhaps I confused you as to the relationship between HP/L and volumetric efficiency?

Do you see what I am saying though in terms of how volumetric efficiency and HP/L are basically looking at the same thing? AFAIK, the topic at hand has nothing to do with a particular idiom, wording, or use of words, but rather, about how effective an engine makes use of its displacement.

I get the feeling that you dont have much interest in the topic of HP/L or volumetric efficiency though......
